| Welcome from the Headteacher
SIR HENRY FLOYD GRAMMAR SCHOOL with specialisms in Science and Performing Arts
We are co-educational grammar school with just over a thousand students close to the town centre of Aylesbury. We have been a Performing Arts college for four years. We have recently been designated a High Performing Specialist school and have been invited to develop a science specialism as well.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School. I hope that you will enjoy reading about the school and that this website will give you an insight into our ethos and ideals. You are welcome to visit the school on our Open Days, or by appointment at other times later in the year, to experience the atmosphere at first hand by meeting the staff and pupils. Our school is distinctive in several ways:
- We are a co-educational selective school
- We have been designated a High Performing Specialist School by the government.
- We have been awarded ‘specialist school’ status in both science and performing arts
- We share a site with Aylesbury College and are therefore able to offer a very wide range of options to sixth formers
Standards of achievement are very high. Two of our A level subjects had results that were the best in any grammar school in the country in 2005. Last year nine of our GCSE students were commended for having marks among the top five in the country.
We also take pride in the quality of our relationships. Parents and students consistently tell us that we are a positive, supportive and caring community. Senior students take the lead in many areas of school life and play a key role in maintaining our positive climate. Our ambitions for our students are high – they deserve the best!

GENERAL |
· Jewellery may not be worn. Small plain studs (no more than one per ear) may be worn – no studs in nose or other facial piercings. If make-up is worn it should be very discreet, almost unnoticeable. Otherwise students may be asked to remove it. No nail varnish is permitted other than neutral. · All male students are expected to be clean-shaven without extended sideburns. Parents of a student in breach of this policy will be given the following hoices: to collect their son so that he can shave and return to school to give verbal permission for their son to shave at school under the supervision of a member of staff. Alternatively the student will work in isolation until the end of the day. Parents who for cultural or religious reasons wish for their son to be exempt from this expectation should write to me stating their case. · Hair should be neat and tidy and in a style that does not draw undue attention to the wearer. Hair dyes must be in natural colours. Hair bands, slides, clips, scrunchies etc. must be black, grey, maroon or white. | | |
