About Balfour Junior School

Balfour Juniors is a school that values standards and achievement.

 Our vision statement is:

  • To make our school a genuine learning community with vibrancy and liveliness about it, making children want to be there and to participate.
  • To instil life-long learning habits in our pupils.
  • To help our pupils become creative thinkers and problem solvers, tolerant and respectful, confident and prepared for the future.

We are extremely proud of all that goes on here.

As our website demonstrates, the children at Balfour Juniors are supported in their learning by dedicated staff, governors and parents.

Take a look around:

I encourage you to browse around our website,

you will find details of school events, visitors and activities that serve to enliven the curriculum, alongside information about our after school clubs and extra curricular activities that your children can participate in. Under "Documents" you will also find copies of our school brochure and prospectus.

FRIENDS

The FBA is the school's parent/teacher association. It works to raise valuable funds for those 'extras' and to engender a greater sense of community around the school. All parents and teachers are members of the FBA and many of you are active contributors to fundraising and other events either as helpers, organisers or simply by spreading the word.

It is worth pointing out that the FBA is not here to substitute the school's budget but to support activities and resources that help make our childrens' time at Balfour Junior School a more rewarding experience.

We need your ideas and input to deliver all this so please get involved by supporting FBA events either as an organiser, helper, by spreading the word or by simply coming along and enjoying the events!

SHOOT IT FOR YOURSELF

This page is about the Shoot it for Yourself film project which is happening in Years 3 and 6 at the school. Year 3 are making a film about the life of a plastic bag which will highlight the environmental problems and damage to wildlife caused by plastic bags. More than one million bags are consumed in the world every minute. Hundreds of thousands of sea turtles, whales and other marine mammals die every year from eating discarded plastic bags mistaken for food. Find out more here.

The project is sponsored by First Light Movies, a nationwide organisation that helps young people aged between five and eighteen to make their own films. To fund projects, First Light Movies distributes £1.1 million of National Lottery money, through UK Film Council funding, each year.
