St. Andrew's Dream
We have a dream that St.Andrew's is a School where care and consideration for each other is a priority, where relationships between adults and children are built on trust and mutual respect, where children can demonstrate self-discipline and enjoy contributing and being part of the family of the School.
Academically, St.Andrew's is a school in which education can be seen operating at the highest level. The work in every class reflects clear planning and progression enabling each child to develop his or her full potential in a happy, challenging environment.
The children are obviously involved in their work. They respond to their educational surroundings not only because they are so exciting, but because their parents take an active part in the life of the School and fully support the teachers. The children sometimes working on their own, sometimes in groups, are constantly challenged to improve their work. They are confident, polite, kind and independent.
All staff, teaching and non-teaching, are highly valued, as is the active and respected Governing Body and P.T.A. The Governing Body collaborates with the staff to evaluate the quality of the teaching and learning and standards of the children attending the school.
Each teacher is highly motivated, deriving great personal and professional satisfaction from his or her work. All the teachers form a committed group, collaborating in their planning to ensure continuity of style. The teachers increasingly involve the children in assessment. They keep up-to-date by regularly attending courses and disseminating good practice to their colleagues.
The administration of the school is efficient and welcoming. All staff are familiar with the latest technology and communication between the school and parents is smooth and friendly. The budget is run according to the School Improvement Plan. The use of the latest programmes as preferred by the L.E.A are in place and understood. All administrative staff regularly attend courses.
Classrooms reflect the high quality of learning experienced by the children. Regular individual and collective staff meetings and annual appraisals enable each teacher to have a clearly defined sense of purpose and career path.
Each classroom is well resourced with everything needed to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum. All classrooms have the latest technology and staff and children alike are competent and confident wit the use of it. The furnishings as well as providing a suitable working situation, are bright and comfortable. Areas for reading, art, technology and other curricular areas being studied at the time, provide additional stimulation.
St. Andrew's being a Church of England School has strong links with the Church. The children are familiar and comfortable in the Christian Church and are also aware of other faiths and religions.
Altogether St.Andrew's is a stimulating workplace for everybody connected with it. It is constantly challenging, seeking to advance in every way and provides a wonderful sense of excitement, achievement and satisfaction.
