Welcome to St. Andrew's Primary School's website. Here you'll find lots of useful information about the school, including contact details, activities, and life in general at our school.

St. Andrew's is a Church of England Aided Primary School, founded in 1858.  Taking its name from St. Andrew's Church, the original school stood for 119 years in George Street.

A new school was constructed in 1977 on the site of the churchyard.

Our new school building, was opened in September 2003,  on the site adjacent to the old school buildings which have now been demolished.

The school caters for children aged 4-11 years and has over 430 pupils on roll.  The number of pupils admitted to the school has remained the same in the new school.

St. Andrew's is a Church of England Aided Primary School, founded in 1858.  Taking its name from St. Andrew's Church, the original school stood for 119 years in George Street.  The school moved to Monmouth Street in 1977 on the site of the churchyard.  Our current school building opened in September 2003 on the site adjacent to the previous school, as part of the redevelopment of central Hove.  The school caters for children aged 4 - 11 years and has approximately 430 pupils on roll.

Mission Statement Our Mission Statement encapsulates the ethos of the school and the vision shared by governors, staff and parents for the education of children in their care.

"The school strives to create a calm, purposeful, Christian environment where children are well-motivated, independent learners whose achievements are highly valued.

Guided by Christian principles, the school endeavours to equip young people for the challenging demands of society by meeting their intellectual, social, personal and spritual needs; enabling them to become responsible adults who will love God and one another.

Governors and staff seek to work in partnership with parents, St. Andrew's Church and the local community."

ADMISSIONS

The Governors of St. Andrew's C.E. (Aided) Primary School have compiled an admission pack to assist you in your selection of a school for your child.  The pack can be obtained by contacting the school office at St. Andrew's.

It comprises:

a.      An information sheet to assist you in completing the necessary forms

b.      The Governors' Criteria for admission

c.      A map of the ecclesiastical parish boundaries

d.      A form which gives the details of your child which must be completed and returned to the school as soon as possible (blue form)

e.     A form which should be sent or given to your Priest and returned to the school by him/her in a sealed envelope and marked 'STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL' (yellow form)

Information

The Governors' Criteria must be read carefully and you should decide which number on the list of criteria applies to your application.  The number must be inserted in the box on the blue form that requests your child's details.

If you are applying under criteria 1-4 or 7-10 the yellow 'Confidential Priest Reference' form should be given to your priest with a request that he/she completes it as soon as possible and returns it to St. Andrew's School.

The form with your child's details should be returned to the school as soon as possible.

An LEA booklet listing all the schools in the area can be obtained from the School Admissions Section at Brighton and Hove Council (telephone 01273 290000).

Please note that, if you are applying for a pre-school child to join St Andrew's in the Reception Year, you should complete the blue form in this pack and the green LEA Preference form.  If St Andrew's School is your FIRST PREFERENCE, both forms should be returned to the school by the date notified in the LEA booklet.

The Governors give priority to those parents who have put St Andrew's School as their first preference subject to fulfilling the criteria.  Consideration will then be given to second and third preferences in that order
