St. Philip’s School has a Friends Association which organises social and fund-raising events on behalf of families and children.
All parents are automatically members of the Friends Association.
There is an organising committee and we would welcome parents from all class groups within the school to join.
We organise events which are good fun and which bring people together. Traditionally we put on a pantomime at Christmas where teachers and parents alike get together and perform for the children in the afternoon of the last day of term and also put on two productions on the Thursday and Friday evening which is great fun and thoroughly enjoyed by children and performers alike.
We have a Summer Fair the last weekend in June. We also have various other events including a music quiz and race night and our Summer Barbeque which takes place at the end of term on the school field. We have a traditional cricket match between the Governors XI and the Headteachers XI followed by a barbeque.
We also raise funds for other Charities, including the British Heart Foundation by taking part in the London to Brighton Bike Ride.
Funds in excess of £10,000 per year have been raised for the past three years.
Last year’s fund-raising was devoted to the School Library which now has many new books and a computerised lending system.
This year we are working closely with the school governors to raise funds which will increase the number of interactive whiteboards in the classrooms and assist with securing the future of the swimming pool. |
