Modern Languages Faculty
We warmly welcome you to the Webpage of the Modern Languages Faculty at Kelvin Hall School in Hull. The Faculty is composed of 4 full-time and 1 part-time member of staff who teach German, Spanish, French and Italian. We work closely with many temporary work experience personnel from abroad: This year we have assistants from Austria, France and Mexico, and several work experience students from Germany.
Our main aim is to encourage the pupils to learn languages and to awaken their interest in other cultures. We offer courses in French, German, Spanish and Italian. Furthermore there are many extra curricular activities offered to the pupils.
“Achieving Success by Working in Partnership” - This philosophy is supported by working closely with other schools and universities both at home and abroad. There are currently several projects which enable our pupils to get to know people from other countries and learn about other cultures. To facilitate this we use web based technologies (e.g. email) and we also hope to develop the use of “SKYPE” in the near future.
All MFL language rooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, overhead projectors, cassette recorders and CD players. Opportunities to use ICT, including the internet for research and authentic resources, are included in our schemes of work.
Science Facilities • 7 newly refurbished science laboratories, each with an interactive whiteboard. • 30 wireless networked laptops with datalogging equipment for science investigations. • Science curricula in electronic format. • 2 full-time science technicians.
