Welcome

Chafford Hundred Campus Secondary School is a unique educational institution serving Chafford Hundred and surrounding catchment area. The Campus has a distinctive ethos with personalised learning at the very heart of our thinking, methodology and development. Even though the buildings, resources and facilities are breathtakingly state of the art and the first things to be noticed by our many and varied national and international visitors, it is the people in the building that make The Campus such a special place. Everybody works hard to deliver an exceptional educational experiences to enable all students to reach their full potential - both academically and personally. Every student and parent has a major voice in the Campus. They are treated as individuals who have a great deal of choice over which direction they would like the education of their child to progress.

This is a very exciting time for the secondary school as the extension to our buildings are now complete and the school is a full capacity. We have an excellent team of staff and some wonderfully multi-talented students at the school already.

The Campus is at the core of the community, offering many facilities to the public along with an extensive programme of adult education. The secondary school is a community college and we take this role very seriously and will continue to extend the services that we offer to the public.

The Campus is also a Specialist School; a Business and Enterprise College. This best reflects the modern technological, vocationally orientated and personalised education package that we deliver. We try to prepare students for adult life so they can be successful and confident about the future and all the obstacles that they will face.

The secondary school is a very special place indeed. It is privilege to lead this 21st century school for the future.

I am proud to be its Headteacher.

Mr C Tomlinson

PARENT ZONE

This area has been designed to enable you to obtain information relative to you and your child who attends the school. You are able to access key information such as policy documents, exam timetables, as well as being able to view all the published newsletters etc.

In the future you will also be able to access the new Parental Portal which will give you access to your child’s attendance and attainment information as well as other key information regarding their education at the campus.

We hope that you find this zone informative and supportive.

ICT

The Campus enjoys a high-speed, secure and robust network. This provides the staff and pupils with access to the wealth of resources available both online and within the Campus network itself. When connected by cable users can access the network at speeds of up to 100Mbps. These high-speeds provide users with the ability to perform very demanding tasks such as video editing and computer aided design in real-time.

In addition to "cabled" access users are able to connect using the latest networking technology. WiFi (also known as 802.11b/g) allows users with a properly equipped laptop or PDA to access the network from almost anywhere within the Campus grounds. This ubiquitous access brings a whole new dimension to the concept of a school network. No longer are computers restricted by the availability of a wall socket. Pupils and staff can work with complete freedom, be it in a classroom or even outside, pupils and staff can work just the same. The wireless network operates at speeds up to 54Mbps and comprises of access points installed throughout the Campus positioned to create a seamless grid.

Internet access is available with the Campus' broadband connection operating at a speed of 6Mbps. The provision of such a high speed connection allows users to take advantage of high bandwidth streaming video as well as other bandwidth intensive applications. Access to the internet is controlled at two points. Onsite there is software in operation that will block access to any inappropriate sites using a keyword filter, this software also provides the network support staff with the ability to monitor any and all access to the internet. Offsite the web requests are filtered by e2b SafetyNet; who employ a team of operatives dedicated to the task of scouring the internet blocking websites on a site by site basis. This dual layer approach to access filtering ensures that pupils are protected to a very high standard.

COMMUNITY

At the campus we host a range of community based clubs and organisations. Within this area of the website you will be able to identify which clubs currently use the campus should you wish to participate in any of the activities.

In addition to hosting these regular clubs, the campus’ facilities are also available for external lettings/hire. Should you be looking for a venue for a conference or a children’s party then you will be able to find facilities that suite your needs.

As well as providing facilities for hire, the campus is also proud to confirm that it works in partnership with two community based organisations, The Chafford Hundred Community Forum and the Lakeside Hammers Elite League Speedway Team. In addition to these links the campus also has a number of links with local companies who participate in our renowned student internship programme, for which we are grateful.
