Welcome to the Collingwood Primary School website. Using the menu wheel above or the side bar you can access information about our school: Print off or view our prospectus, see a copy of our latest newsletter, see a list of dates for your diary and of course, no school website would be complete without showing off some of our pupils' excellent work.
Thank you for visiting us. Please come back soon.
Mrs Amanda Buckland-Garnett Head Teacher
Collingwood Primary School has Foundation Status. This means that the Governing Body is the admissions authority and the employer for all personnel. In addition the governing body owns the building and land. As with all schools, we receive a delegated budget for which governors are also responsible.
Built in 1982, the school has a semi-open plan design, which encourages a friendly atmosphere whilst still providing classes with privacy to work. The teaching spaces are set round two central spaces - a ‘small’ hall and a pottery area. Cloakrooms and toilets are situated near each class and the children enter and leave the school through these doors.
The school has two halls, which are used for assemblies, P.E., music, drama and dance. The larger of the two is equipped as a gymnasium and is also used as a dining area at lunchtimes.
A library was added in 1993 and is well stocked with reference books. In 2003 an ICT suite was a further welcome addition to the school.
The school has an excellent playing field as well as hard play areas with seating areas for quiet pursuits and spaces for more active games.
Pedestrian access is via footpaths from Ferrers Road, opposite the Asda car park, and from Inchbonnie Road.
For parents wishing to visit the visitors’ entrance is most easily reached from Collingwood road. All visitors should go first to the Reception area, situated just inside the main entrance, where the support staff will be pleased to assist you.
