Welcome to Debden C of E Primary School

The original building which still houses two of our classes
The original building for Debden School

At Debden we firmly believe that:

v     All children deserve an enjoyable and stimulating environment in which to learn.

v     Every child has a potential to do well and it is the role of the school to meet this need.

v     By promoting a caring, stimulating and secure community each child will grow and develop in a positive way.

v     Responsibilities are recognised by all.

v     Schools are partnerships and the development of these communities are vital to all parties.

v     We provide a broad and balanced curriculum.

v     We need to constantly question and seek excellence for all children.

v     Everyone should be respected and should show respect for themselves and others.

v     Education will go on beyond the school and life-long learning is an aim we strive for.

v     We need to model the behaviour and values which we wish children to develop and sustain.

v     We will support parents and children in whatever we can within the community.

CLUBS

If you would like your child(ren) to join any of the above clubs please fill out the form at the end of this newsletter and return it to the school office by Friday 14th September. If the number of children requiring a place exceeds the maximum number, names will then be pulled out of a hat.

Non attendance at any club for 2 weeks will result in the child’s place being relinquished.

We are always looking to increase the number of clubs we offer. If you would like to offer a club please contact the school office.

Hockey
Mrs Magness will continue to run her Hockey club at Newport Free Grammar School on a Friday. Details to follow.

Football
Elite Soccer will continue their soccer skills clubs on a Monday for Years 4, 5 and 6 and Friday for Years 1, 2 and 3 starting Monday 10th September. The cost will be £3 per session.  Please fill out the form at the end of this newsletter if your child(ren) would like to continue or join this club. This club is open to boys and girls.

If you would like your child to have a place in the above clubs please fill in the form which can be downloaded here. Places will be offered on a first come first served basis. If your child is not successful in gaining a place at a club you will be notified. You will not be notified if your child has been offered a place.

Some work from the Art Club

The recorder clubs from last year were very popular. The two pictures below show Mrs Patterson's group learning a new piece of music and Mrs Mitchell's group performing in an assembly after just a few lessons.

Every child in the school is given an assignment book that contains their current targets in literacy and numeracy, as well as other important information.

One of the items in the Assignment Book is our expectations of the children.

  • Be on time

  • Work quietly

  • Get ready to work

  • Tidy up

  • Be quiet when the teacher is talking

  • Always be polite

  • Put your hand up to ask a question

  • Listen to each other

PROSPECTUS

As part of the way we present information we have changed the ways you can view the current school prospectus on the website. We have removed the on-line version as the current prospectus pasted onto a webpage would take around 50 seconds to download over a normal modem.

Our first version is as a Word document. The vast majority of people have access to Word software, or software that will read Word Documents.

The second version is that you can now access a PDF Version. You will need to have a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader which is available free of charge from Adobe. Click on the button below to start the download process.
