Opening the Door to Education
At Eversley Primary School it is our aim to have a happy family atmosphere
where everyone is treated with respect and where children are encouraged
to grow and develop in an interesting and stimulating environment.
Eversley is a single site primary school; children stay in the same school
through the infant and junior stages. All of our pupils follow the National
Curriculum and we report regularly to parents on their progress. We value a
full partnership with home and school so that children can attain their potential.
Children make good progress through the school.
High standards of teaching in reading, writing and mathematics are a
feature of the school and with these important basic skills children are
encouraged to develop enquiring minds that will give them an important
introduction to a lifetime of learning.
School Background
Eversley Primary School was opened in 1977 to serve both an established
and growing community on the outskirts of Basildon New Town.
The school catchment area consists of both private and rented housing.
The school has an up to date computer suite and is well resourced.
All classrooms have PCs and are linked to Broadband. We have interactive
white boards and use Knowledge Box, Easiteach and SuccessMaker on
our networks.
We have fourteen classes and most classes have around 30 children.
In addition to the class teachers there are five further teachers who work mainly
with groups of children to raise standards. Four HLTA's release teachers for PPA or management responsibilities. There are in addition 20 Learning Support Assistants many of whom have qualifications in KS1 support, SEN or Speech and Language.
Our Learning Mentor works with vulnerable or underachieving children
and their families to ensure that all pupils have the best possible opportunity
to succeed.
The school is a popular one and pupil places are oversubscribed.
Our KS1 and KS2 SATs are consistently at national averages.
The school has a reputation for being caring and well organised and staff
work hard to maintain high standards of pupil progress and a good
relationship with parents.
We have an enhanced provision for ten statemented children with moderate learning difficulties and the teacher in charge works alongside class teachers to maintain this inclusive model of special education. We have received three Achievement Awards, the 'Investors in People' award, Basic Skills Award and the Active Mark.
Our most recent OFSTED inspection (June 2005) reported that'this is a very
good school where teaching is very good overall. Pupils are very well behaved and have
very good attitudes to learning.'
We were proud to be named as a Particularly Successful School in the OFSTED list of 2005.
The school works with other partners in the Basildon Excellence Cluster to continue
to raise standards in creating High Reliability Schools.
We live in exciting times and Eversley School is
a busy and happy place to be; (most days!) |
