Our School

Hadleigh Infants and Nursery School was opened in 1965 and is situated in a pleasant residential area. The catchment area has a wide socio-economic mix and pupils live both in privately owned, rented and local authority housing. The school roll has increased over the past few years.

The school has nine spacious classrooms, a large nursery and a library. Each classroom is carpeted with a wet area for art/craft, science and technology activities and is equipped with sinks, toilets and cloakroom areas. There is a large hall, which is used for collective worship, physical education, dance, drama and music lessons. At lunch times the hall is used as a dining room. School meals are prepared and served from the adjoining school kitchen.

Our Nursery

At Hadleigh Nursery we aim to provide a happy and stimulating learning environment and offer a broad and balanced curriculum through structured play activities.  We aim to develop every child's confidence and encourage independence whilst fostering social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.

Children who attend Hadleigh Nursery follow the Foundation Stage curriculum.  This is a statutory document issued by the government which all three, four and five year olds follow.

At Hadleigh, our nursery curriculum is established through a topic approach which relates to the areas of learning in the Foundation Stage.  These areas are:
bullet

personal, social and educational development

bullet

communication, language and literacy

bullet

mathematical development

bullet

knowledge and understanding of the world

bullet

physical development

bullet

creative development

The nursery staff carefully monitor and record the child's development through regular observation and assessments.

FOR PARENTS

Essex Police

Essex Police Crest

Essex Police are delighted to have launched a new website aimed at Primary School age children: www.pepys.org

pepys stands for Proactive Essex Police Youth Strategy

The site has been developed in consultation with a number of children and teachers from schools across Essex.  We hope you might find some of the information and activities useful.

Local Events

Christmas Concerts Charity Collection

Hope you all enjoyed the Christmas Concerts in school this term.  Thank you for your kind donations in memory of a former pupil Amy Rankin who sadly died this year.  Her family chose a charity called "KIDS FOR KIDS".  This charity works in Sudan providing long term help for children and their families.  KIDS FOR KIDS provides, among other things, goats and donkeys to some of the poorest and most vulnerable families in the world.  For more information on KIDS FOR KIDS,  visit www.kidsforkids.org.uk

School Uniform Shop

The school governors have taken over the organisation of uniform sales. Click here to see information and opening times.

Safety Issues

Please do not ride bicycles or scooters on the school grounds.  We ask parents and children to walk up the main path with their bikes or scooters in order that accidents to not occur.  The path should be used by all pedestrians, not the roadway.

Unfortunately, we do not have space on the school premises for vehicles belonging to parents.  Please remember to park outside the school on the school side of Bilton Road or in the surrounding roads.  Parents and carers who have special permission to park within the school grounds are reminded to drive with care at all times.

Unfortunately, due to Health and Safety reasons, we have to ask parents to keep their children off the outdoor play equipment during out-of-school times.  Thank you for your co-operation.
