Welcome to our school

Our Vision For

To provide a caring Christian community in which all individuals

 feel valued, nurtured and

respected and where true

potential is recognised

and developed.

St George's Church of England Primary School is located in the small, rural village

of Great Bromley just outside Colchester.  We aim to create a caring and friendly environment in which your child will be

able to learn.  You are warmly invited to contact the school to make an

appointment to come and meet us.

Founded in 1863, St. George's Church of England Primary School, has maintained the provision of education according to the practice and principals of the Church of England.  It is a Church Foundation school and is controlled by the Local Education Authority (LEA).  The School is situated in the centre of the village adjacent to the Church.

The original building was extensively rebuilt and remodelled in 2002 as part of a PPP (Public Private Partnership) project.   The School is legally owned by the trustees, but the premises and maintenance of services are now managed by Kier Management Services under the PPP scheme, where an annual fee is paid on a lease basis

for 32 years.

The building consists of four spacious classrooms which are well equipped for mixed age ranges and abilities.  Each have easy access to the large playing field, offices, medical room, ICT suite, learning resources room, food technology room, library area, disabled toilet, hall and kitchen.  The playground, sports field and adventure play area are situated at the rear of the school.

PTA

All parents are automatically members of St George's PTA.  We are very fortunate to have a very active PTA who over the years have raised thousands of pounds for the school.  The money raised is used to provide the children with extra equipment, activities and resources.  Past expenditures have included: computers, refurbishment of the library, coach hire and funding of special events e.g. visiting theatre groups and skipping workshops.

The PTA also organises non-profit making social events for both children and adults which help to engender a greater sense of community amongst those associated with our school.

The PTA is always looking out for more helpers, so if you are interested in taking a more active role, please do not hesitate to contact Trudie Dodd (chairman) who would love to hear from you (tel 791943).
