Bishop Challoner School is founded on Catholic principles but welcomes and respects all faiths.

Through partnership of family and staff, we foster the education of the whole person in preparation for adult life, within a positive and caring environment.

The overall aim of the nursery is to encourage good social skills, enthusiastic approach to work and a real sense of fun and purpose in learning. The nursery boasts good facilities and ensures an easy transition to Junior school. The nursery curriculum is divided into six areas of learning : one full report per year teacher-parent partnerships three progress cards per year   "At GCSE the overall attainment is consistently above the national averages for maintained schools".

The Junior school seeks to consolidate and extend basic skills in a warm and friendly environment. The Senior School provides a well balanced academic curriculum. This ensures that as many options as possible are kept open for specialisation in the Sixth Form or beyond. The Sixth Form is a popular choice for many of our year 11 pupils and we welcome new students from other schools. Contribution to the general life of the school is encouraged with opportunities to develop leadership skills. Sixth Formers are appointed to positions of responsibility and help to run the House System and School Council. We see our pupils as individuals and maximise achievement through small teaching groups and highly qualified and skilled staff. SPORTS

The close connection between good physical health and fitness and the highest levels of intellectual attainment are now well known. This is one of the reasons why we encourage a diverse and challenging sporting programme spanning rugby, soccer, cross-country, basketball, hockey, netball, athletics, swimming and fencing.

Our sports programme is designed to allow everyone to find the physical activity that will suit them best, providing opportunities for the stronger performers to exce and the weaker ones to develop their skills.

MUSIC AND DRAMA

We aim to give every pupil the opportunity to develop his or her powers of oral communication and dramatic and musical expression. Great confidence is gained through performing to an audience and pupils throughout the school are encouraged to take part in a variety of theatrical productions and concerts. some music scholarships concerts held during the year annual productions after-school drama club "Rapid improvements are taking place in the provision for music and in the standards being achieved in this area".

CLUBS

After school clubs of many kinds are available to all pupils, Juniors and Seniors. School outings are regarded as vital components in the education we offer.
