About Coopers...

Whatever our students achieve, we aim always to create confident, courteous and hard-working young adults who can make informed decisions about the issues that affect them.

A Specialist Technology College from 2002 Coopers is an innovative centre of technology and ICT. As a Microsoft Partner the College is at the forefront of ICT in education, and is leading the way in developing online learning. The Learning Gateway is Coopers’ virtual community area; a place for students, staff and parents to learn and stay informed inside and outside of the College environment. Parents can access the College calendar and their childrens’ reports, while students can access a wealth of learning materials for every subject and complete learning assignments online.

SIXTH FORM

A well-structured and independent learning environment is universally acknowledged as providing the most effective form of learning for post-16 students

Coopers’ Sixth Form provides every opportunity you need to become a confident, well-qualified young adult with the knowledge and skills to take up the challenges of Higher Education or employment. We listen to our students, so we know that your personal success in Post-16 education relies as much upon being respected and rewarded as a young adult as it does upon the high standards of teaching and resources that we offer.

Understanding this as we do, we aim to support you with a coherent and comprehensive education both inside and outside of the classroom that will allow you to pursue your personal interests alongside your studies. The popularity of our Sixth Form in recent years has led to it become the largest in the area. This has enabled us to provide a wider range of courses, greater resources and a tutorial system that gives students support on an individual basis every week.

The level of support we offer can clearly be seen in how we structure our courses, timetables and out-of-class activities to allow students to follow either an academic route towards Higher Education, or a more vocational path that will lead to skills and qualifications that are greatly sought after in the workplace. Our status as a leading Technology College recognises our achievements in using cutting edge technology to deliver specific ICT training, and innovative ways of teaching that are tailored, and relevant to the society we live in today. This stage of education is all about partnerships. We provide you with a comprehensive framework of support and guidance, first-rate teaching, resources and careers advice. We also give you greater autonomy and increased responsibility for your own studies. In return we simply ask that you are as committed to fulfiling your own potential as we are. We encourage you to apply to join our Sixth Form, and assure you that by working together we can help you to reach out for, and fulfil your ambitions.

UNIFORM

With exception of Year 12 and 13 all students wear full College uniform and their smart, attractive appearance contributes to the corporate pride of the College. There are optional College uniforms.

Option 1

College blazer, regulation dark grey or black trousers, white shirt,

College tie, grey socks and black shoes, in winter months a V neck regulation jumper may be worn.

Option 2

College blazer and matching blue skirt, blue and white checked blouse, (skirts and blouses are only available from the College Shop), black low-heeled shoes with white or navy blue socks or dark navy/black tights, in winter months a V neck regulation jumper may be worn.

The uniform worn must be either option 1 or option 2 and not a combination of both i.e. a College blazer, white shirt, tie and skirt is not permitted. We recommend inexpensive dark top coats, certainly not leather or denim. No variations are allowed in this uniform ( ie hooded tops and non uniform jumpers) and naturally the wearing of earrings and jewellery are not permitted.
