Good Morning and Welcome to our school!

Highfield Infants' School, Shortlands, opened in 1972, and is situated in an attractive part of Bromley, a short distance from the Town Centre (see How To Find Us for our address and telephone number).

We are a popular, successful and over-subscribed school with the interests of the quality of children's learning experience as our paramount consideration.

Indoors we have well-equipped furnished classrooms, a networked information and communications technology (ICT) suite, interactive whiteboards, a children's reference library and a multi-purpose hall. 

The children enjoy a range of outdoor facilities too, including an attractive and well-maintained pond and wildlife area, a garden specially designed for its appeal to the spectrum of senses and plenty of mature trees. In the playgrounds there are wooden toy features and painted markings as well as small apparatus that children enjoy using. Additionally, one of the ways in which we link with the Junior School, whose grounds adjoin our own, is through usage of their playing fields for various activities throughout the year.

Our objectives are:

• To facilitate effective and strong links between school, home and the wider community – recognising the role of parents as the first educators of their children and valuing the contribution they make to the life of the school

• To maintain and develop close links with local nurseries and preschools in addition to Highfield Junior School

• To foster self-discipline and a sense of responsibility, valuing politeness, honesty, tolerance, a caring for others and a positive attitude towards learning

• To enable children to appreciate the multi-cultural society in which we live and develop respect for other races, religions and ways of life

• To offer equality of opportunity to all our children, including the gifted and talented, those with special educational needs and those who find aspects of learning difficult

• To foster an enthusiasm for lifelong learning
