CURRICULUM

The curriculum is everything which influences the child in school, the unplanned as well as the planned and those things which cannot be seen, only sensed.  It is for this reason we hope that when you enter Hoo St Werburgh Primary School & Marlborough Centre you will sense a friendly and purposeful atmosphere.  We believe that a child cannot learn effectively unless he or she feels secure, successful and happy.  We are keen to develop personalised learning opportunities aimed at your child’s preferred learning styles.  Equally, a child will only give of his or her best when he or she is both committed and involved.  Therefore we try to work from and develop the child’s natural curiosity and interest.  We are concerned with educating the whole child, helping boys and girls to develop socially acceptable attitudes, self-discipline and self-confidence.

Homework

Homework is expected form children at the school from an early age and it is essential that parents work with their children at all levels.  When homework is set children are expected to finish the work and have it in to be marked on time.  We understand that there may sometimes be difficulties on this but this will stand your child in good stead when transferring to secondary school where homework will take more time.  It is a Government initiative that parents play an active role in their child’s education and homework is seen as an important factor of this.
