National Curriculum Organisation

School Policies and National Curriculum Guidelines are available for parents to read in the School at any time. As copies are limited and expensive to produce a 24 hour loan service is available to parents who are unable to read (or digest the contents!) within School. Please see the School Administrative Officer or Deputy Head.

The School is following the Government Guidelines for the Literacy Hour and the Numeracy Strategy.

The complaints procedure for parents who are unhappy about the school arrangements for the National Curriculum follows an established national pattern and procedure i.e. informal complaint to Class Teacher/Headteacher; complaint in writing to the School Governors; formal complaint to the Secretary of State.

Similarly all letters of thanks, congratulations and empathy are most welcome!!

Extra curricular activities take place both at lunchtime and after school.

Admissions Procedure

Reception Class

1. Parents are asked to submit their child's name for a waiting list as early as possible. Forms are available from School on request.
2. Parents are invited to an evening meeting in the half-term preceding their child's entry to School. The purpose of this meeting is to explain in detail to Parents the mysteries and routines of life at Oak Lodge. An information package will be handed out at this meeting.
3. Children are invited to visit the School in the half-term preceding their own start to school life. This will give them the chance to see their classroom and meet their teacher.
4. Admission forms, outing consent forms, birth certificates and other paperwork including proof of residence will be dealt with at one of these meetings.
5. In the first week of term children will attend school 8.50 a.m. - NOON. Children are taken to and collected from the classroom.
6. In the second week of term children will attend school from 8.50 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. Children are collected from the classroom.
7. In the third week of term Parents are encouraged to leave the children in the playground with the teacher on duty. Children attend for the full day with children being dismissed at 3.05 p.m.

Casual Admissions - Pupils transferring from other schools

1. Following the initial application to the School, Parents will be invited to make an appointment to visit the School with their children.
2. Parents and children will be escorted round the School and hopefully introduced to the class teacher.
3. Admission forms, outing consent forms, and other paperwork will be completed before entry.
4. On their first day new children will be taken to their class by the Headteacher, School Administrative Officer or Class Teacher.

Requests To Parents

1. To inform us promptly of change of address, change of telephone number, place of work or intention to leave the area.
2. To ensure that children attend school regularly and arrive punctually. We cannot, however, take responsibility for children arriving before 8.45 a.m.
3. To ensure that unfit children do not come into school.
4. To explain short-term absence in writing on return to school. Please do not phone. For long-term sickness please call, write or telephone.
5. Not to take family holidays during term time.
6. To ensure that P.E., Games and Swimming Kit is provided and brought to school on the appropriate days.
7. To ensure that ALL children conform to school uniform.
8. To ensure that EVERY item of school uniform is clearly marked with child's name.
9. To ensure that children pay dinner money regularly and promptly.
10. To allow children to bring money into school for specific (school) reasons only.
11. To remind children that personal possessions are brought to school at the OWNER'S RISK.
