Painters Ash Primary School is a Group 3 Community School, located within Northfleet, Kent. We have thirteen classes of pupils covering ages four to eleven years.  The school was opened in 1971 and has since been enhanced by a purpose-built early years wing. The thirteen classrooms are spacious, light and welcoming. We also have a large hall, a Special Educational Needs room, activity areas, office and a staff room.  We have established separate Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Libraries. Year groups are organised into three teams.  Each team, or group of years, has a team leader who is responsible for co-ordinating the work within each group. The teams are: Key Stage 1 (years R, 1 and 2); Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and Upper Key Stage 2 (years 5 and 6).  Our year groups are each organised into two parallel classes.   Sometimes it is necessary to reorganise an individual year group into different classes.  This will probably be done at the end of Year 2 and Year 4. However, we may need to reorganize a year group at other times.

The school has attractive grounds, with mature trees and a range of young trees, including an infant Giant Redwood, garden borders and a Woodland Walk, funded by the P.T.A.  We encourage protection of the environment by involving our pupils in ground improvement projects such as an annual bulb planting.  We have separate infant and junior playgrounds, with quiet play areas in each, plus a wide range of games marked.

OBJECTIVES

Our objectives are to:

  • encourage a learning environment where all children become happy and confident
  • provide a welcoming, interesting, safe place in which children want to learn both academic and creative subjects
  • set an  ethos of team-work, consideration and appreciation
  • maintain the highest possible standards of behaviour and effort from adults and children and adherence to rules and policies
  • have careful regard for equality of opportunity between groups of differing age, ability, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender and religion.
  • foster good relations between home and school and the community
  • help everybody benefit from the ever-changing education scene
  • encourage responsible citizenship at every age and stage

We believe that to achieve the best possible education for your child we need to foster a close relationship between home and school.  Your child benefits when parents and teachers work together and there are many ways in which you can support your child at school.  We hope you will regularly visit the school becoming acquainted with your child’s teacher and will join in the school’s social activities.
