Priory Fields school is located in the historic port town of Dover, Kent. Dover is the nearest town to France so many people pass through the town every year. The most famous thing about Dover is the White Cliffs. People all over the world know they are nearly in England when they see the cliffs as they approach from the sea. This was echoed in the words of a very popular wartime song called "There'll be bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover", sung by Vera Lynne.
Another famous sight in Dover is the castle. The castle was built over two thousand years ago. It has had many important visitors over the years, including King Henry the Eighth and Queen Victoria. Near the castle is a Roman lighthouse, or Pharos.
Our school is built in Dover on a road called Astor Avenue. There are other schools nearby called Dover Grammar School for Boys and Astor College for the Arts. |
