Through Caring We Achieve
Sibertswold`s Silver Stacks
This Friday (16th November) is Children In Need day. To raise funds for this charity we are going to be creating stacks of silver coins. If you have any spare silver coins, please bring them into school so that we can raise as much money as possible for this great cause. Check the website for pictures and a total of the money raised.
Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important things you will ever do as a parent. Selecting the right school is vital for your child’s happiness and success.
We hope this prospectus will help you in making that choice. It shows an outline of the opportunities – both academic and social – that are available for the children who become members of the Sibertswold family.
It is of course impossible for this prospectus to fully capture the real experiences that happen every day in school.
We are trying to give you an insight into the way we work, what we believe in and the ideals we value.
Please take time to visit us, see us in action, talk to our children and staff.
We are a Church Controlled school with a history that dates back to 1853 when Sibertswold School first opened in the old school building across the village green. We moved into our present building in 1993 and celebrated our 10th anniversary here in 2003.
Church-controlled means that we are controlled by the LEA, with representatives put forward by the Church Diocese serving on our Board of Governors and the Parish Clergy have right of entry to the school.
At Sibertswold we are concerned for the whole child. Academic standards are of the highest importance but these are of little value if a child lacks a sense of responsibility to themselves or those they meet. We encourage our children to grow in self-esteem, understand others, learn how to be a friend and be a vital part of the whole school community. We believe we are a very good school getting even better. This is an exciting time at our school, with many projects on the go, much to look forward to and more successes to gain.
We do hope you will choose us as the next educators of your child and look forward to working in partnership with you whilst your child is with us.

| Our school is a partnership between parents, carers, educators and friends. When children leave our school we hope they will be happy, confident and well-equipped to face the challenges in the next stage of their lives.
We aim to provide an environment:
–where everyone feels safe
–where everyone feels valued and important
–where everyone has the opportunity to achieve the very best they possibly can
–where everyone will grow in confidence and become independent learners
–where everyone will appreciate each other and develop into citizens of a fast-changing world
–where weaknesses are supported and overcome
–where everyone will gain a better knowledge and understanding of God
–but mostly, where we are all happy to be!

| We are extremely fortunate to have a thriving After School Club run by a committee with fully trained leaders. The Club is self-financing and children are booked in for as many sessions per week as you wish. The cost from September 2007 is £7.00 per session, which runs from 3.15 until 5.45.
The children help to make their own tea and then take part in numerous activities dependent on the time of year as in the Summer many take place on the field.
|
| We are proud of the smart appearance of our children.
Girls uniform: Red school sweatshirt, white polo shirt, grey/navy skirt or pinafore dress or grey/navy trousers. Black shoes, low heels. In summer a blue/red check dress may be worn.
Boys uniform: Red school sweatshirt, white polo shirt, grey/navy trousers. Black shoes. In summer, grey/navy shorts may be worn.
PE kit: For Physical Education, a T-shirt (available in house colours), shorts (plain white, blue or red) are needed, plus a pair of plimsolls for outdoor PE. PE kits should be left in school during the week and taken home at weekends.
Please note that jeans, leggings, track suits and “beach” type wear are not considered suitable for ordinary day wear, although track suits may be useful for games during winter. Children will need shoes for normal day wear in school – not trainers. Trainers may be worn for games and playtimes, but not for gymnastics indoors.
Parents are requested not to send their children to school wearing jewellery except a watch or stud earrings. These must be removed by the child themselves for all PE lessons or tape used to secure them to the ears. This is a Kent County Council Health & Safety directive to all schools.
NB Our Reception Year children do not need plimsolls until after the February Break at the end of Term 3.

Children should not arrive at school before 08:50, as supervision is not available before that time. In the mornings you are able to drive into school to drop your child off at the bottom of the mini roundabout. Please do not park or leave cars unattended, as this causes congestion of traffic. In the afternoon, at the end of school, the gates are closed so no cars are allowed into the school grounds in order to make a safer car-free environment for our children as they leave school at hometime.
