Welcome to Slade Primary School!

Welcome to our website. I have been the headteacher at Slade for 8 years. I really enjoy working with the children, staff, parents, governors and the local community. Slade is a very happy school where we all work as a team to enable the pupils to achieve their potential. We provide a quality education to all our pupils. Our children all know and understand our mission statement which is three words: Best, Team and Happy. Our curriculum is broad and balanced. It is enriched with trips, visits, productions, specialist equipment and it offers opportunities for children to excel in a variety of ways.

If you have any questions about our school after you have visited our website, then do not hesitate to get in touch.

KEY INFO

Tonbridge is an historic town, well known for its culture and heritage. Slade Primary School is nestled behind the castle, close to local churches, the River Medway and the local park, which are all ideal resources for the school to use to inspire and motivate children. We are keen to ensure that the journey to school and trips out of school are a safe and quality experience for our children and families, therefore the school fully supports the Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council’s Community Strategy:

Slade caters for children from 4 years to 11 years old and includes a Department for Hearing Impaired Children (J7) for children between the ages of 2 and 11 years old. There are approximately 320 children on roll. There are 11 classes in the main school and three classrooms in J7. We employ 18 teachers, 18 teaching assistants (TAs), three secretaries, 1 caretaker, and 6 other support staff work at the school.

The building comprises an Edwardian main block, four additional classrooms, a library/I.C.T. Suite, hall, music room and a mobile classroom and J7, which has three classrooms. There is a playground, Early Years Play Area, imaginative play area and a school field. All the classrooms are carpeted, curtained and equipped with all the necessary resources to deliver the National Curriculum.

PTA

Welcome to the PTA Page!

The functions of the P.T.A. are to raise funds for items not covered by funding from the Education Authority, to foster a sense of community within the school and to provide a link between parents, staff and head teacher.

Every parent with children at Slade Primary School automatically becomes a member of the P.T.A. P.T.A. events are planned by an enthusiastic Committee of about twenty parents who meet twice in each of the six terms.

Regular P.T.A. events in the school calendar include the Christmas Sale, where families donate good quality items which the children can purchase very cheaply to give as presents to their loved ones; the Quiz Night, a very popular event; the Spring Fair which incorporates a quiz for the children, and egg and spoon races; and the Summer Fete which is the main fund raising event of the year. We also organise the Junior Discos three times a year and run various raffles through the year.

We frequently organise additional events which combine fund raising with a stronger social angle. Recently successes have included a barn dance and an Indulgence Evening.

Slade P.T.A. has purchased a wooden Play Trail, water coolers, dining tables, bicycle racks and many other useful items for the school over the years. We also provide every child who enters the Reception class with a water bottle, and every child who leaves at the end of year six with a dictionary.
