Tonbridge is an historic town, well known for its culture and heritage. Slade Primary School is nestled behind the castle, close to local churches, the River Medway and the local park, which are all ideal resources for the school to use to inspire and motivate children. We are keen to ensure that the journey to school and trips out of school are a safe and quality experience for our children and families, therefore the school fully supports the Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council’s Community Strategy:
Slade caters for children from 4 years to 11 years old and includes a Department for Hearing Impaired Children (J7) for children between the ages of 2 and 11 years old. There are approximately 320 children on roll. There are 11 classes in the main school and three classrooms in J7. We employ 18 teachers, 18 teaching assistants (TAs), three secretaries, 1 caretaker, and 6 other support staff work at the school.
The building comprises an Edwardian main block, four additional classrooms, a library/I.C.T. Suite, hall, music room and a mobile classroom and J7, which has three classrooms. There is a playground, Early Years Play Area, imaginative play area and a school field. All the classrooms are carpeted, curtained and equipped with all the necessary resources to deliver the National Curriculum.
