Speldhurst Church of England Primary is in a village three miles from Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The school, which was founded in 1859, is proud of its traditions and links with the church and local community. The school became Voluntary Aided in September 2004.
The school is known for its "community atmosphere" and is keen to preserve and strengthen the Christian ethos which permeates through the whole school. The school adopts a child-centred approach to pupils' learning. The staff forms a cohesive and supportive team who build on the individual strengths of children in order to raise self-esteem and make children feel valued.
The school has currently 140 on roll in 5 classes. There are 5 full time teachers, 7 Learning Support Assistants and a part time SEN Co-ordinator. Year 6 children are taught as a separate year group, the rest in mixed-age classes. The children who attend the school are drawn from the immediate village and surrounding areas.
Speldhurst is a feeder school to a wide range of secondary schools in the area including grammar, comprehensive, and high schools. It has particular links with a local sports college and a Technology college.
Our new Hall was completed in 2002 and two permanent classrooms for the infants were built in 2007 to replace mobiles. |
