We are very proud of our Sixth Form at The Towers School which has achieved an excellent reputation. Outstanding examination results, very positive comments by Ofsted and the award of the 'A' Grade Kitemarking by the County are testimony to our high standards. We are looking to grow still further beyond our present record numbers, to include further GNVQ Intermediate Levels, Advanced Subsidiary Levels (AS Levels), Advanced Levels (A2 Levels) and Vocational A Levels. Through mutual support from Norton Knatchbull, Highworth and South Kent College we are able to support students of the area in a full and varied curriculum.
At The Towers we firmly believe in encouraging our students to achieve their potential both academically and personally. Students in the Sixth Form are actively encouraged to set themselves high expectations and are fully supported in their endeavours to achieve them, whether their intention is to enter full time employment or Higher Education on completion of their Sixth Form studies.
The Head of Sixth Form and the team of tutors, support students in their individual and academic development. Highly qualified and dedicated staff provide students with excellent learning opportunities. Students are expected to be self-disciplined and well motivated to meet the demands of their subject staff. In addition they must continue this enthusiasm for their chosen subjects in private study lessons. Excellent study and tutorial facilities afford students the opportunity to use this time to read around the topics studied.
We believe that it is important to provide opportunities to promote students' personal development. Through the Sixth Form Enrichment Programme students are provided with regular opportunities to take on extra responsibilities within the Sixth Form and also within the wider school and local community. Students feel this is an important factor in the generation of their CVs to support applications to higher education. One of the most impressive aspects of our Sixth Form is the wide range of additional activities. Visits to New York, Toronto and the Swattenden Activity Centre, together with the splendid Summer Ball, are occasions which make our Sixth Form special and never to be forgotten.
It is our aim to ensure that every student is adequately prepared to meet the challenges in life as they leave the Sixth Form to enter into full time employment or to progress to university.
