WELCOME!!!

We are situated in the historic and quiet village of Worth located just on the outskirts of the town of Sandwich. We are very proud of our school, which has served the local community since 1857. The staff and governors of the school aim to provide the children with an education that is broadly based and tailored to meet individual needs. In our small friendly school environment we provide a happy and caring atmosphere in which a child may fulfill his/her potential, grow in self-confidence, and respect for the people and environment around them.
We are a traditional village school with traditional values supported by up to date technology and ideas. The school is the centre of learning for up to 65 Children aged 5 to 11.
MISSION STATEMENT At Worth Primary School we provide a broad and balanced education for all the children in our care. We aim to create a happy, caring and stimulating environment in which all children can grow and learn.
SCHOOL ETHOS We consider the education of any child to be a partnership between home and school. We expect that parents and guardians will take a real interest in their child's education embracing the Home/School charter, which all parents and guardians receive when their child starts school.
In essence, Worth School will encourage and help the pupils to be all that they can be. The home will support the pupil in every way from insuring attendance to supporting the pupil in all opportunities for home learning. The children will take care of themselves and the school, and try to the best of their abilties. Together, we will all tackle any special needs and encourage the children to achieve their potential.
Children are encouraged to work in many ways from the use of information technology or reading the books in our small but comprehensive library, and practical work in all subjects to support the topic being studied.

EDUCATION

THE CURRICULUM All teaching is within the National Curriculum. The Curriculum is the area of work in which the children are engaged in school. This may be taught through topics, usually with a historical or geographical starting point but covering work in many subjects. Distinct science topics lead to work in Technology, Mathematics and Information Technology. Children will visit areas of work within the Curriculum more than once in their school life but at levels which reflect their development.
CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS The Governors of the school believe very strongly in supporting children with learning difficulties. Worth has access to many services and specialist teachers who can be called upon to help children with physical and sensory impairments. We ensure that the 2002 Code of Practice is followed and our SEN policy is available for your perusal.
SCHOOL HOURS The School is in session from 08.55 - 12.05 and 13.15 - 15.20. There is a break in the morning and Class 1 has a short playtime in the middle of the afternoon. On arrival at school a member of staff will be on duty from 08:45.

ADMISSIONS

Children enter school in the academic year they become five. At Worth Primary School there is one admissions date per year which is in September at the start of the academic school year. Parents who would like their child to be admitted to Worth Primary School during the year their child is five should ensure that they complete the necessary application form and return it to the school or the LEA by January 18 2008 at the latest. IF YOU MISS THIS DATE PLEASE APPLY TO THE SCHOOL.
The LEA will write to you by first class post on 31 March 2008 with the offer of one school place. If Worth is your first choice and you have not been offered a place here please contact us.
We believe that children usually settle into school better if they are admitted on a phased progression to full time attendance. Therefore, the first six weeks will be mornings only for all children. We invite the children to stay for lunch during the sixth week.
