PRIMARY SCHOOL

Clubs and After-School Activities

Due to the commitment of staff at Kingsfield, we are able to run some lunchtime and after school activities. These include football, netball, choir, band and recorder. After school activities are mainly available for children in years 3 - 6 (8 - 11 year olds). Children who are interested in joining a club will need to see the teacher running it.

We welcome parental support with our after school activities, if you are interested in helping, please contact the teacher running the club or the Headteacher. All adults (including volunteers) working in school will need to complete a form to be checked by the Criminal Records Bureau before being allowed to work with children.

CURRICULUM

What do we teach at Kingsfield?

In our Reception Classes we teach the Foundation Stage Curriculum (see separate booklet).

In Years One to Six, we teach the National Curriculum. This is a broad programme of work set out by the government in the 1988 Education Reform Act. It includes:

English, mathematics, science, history, geography, art, music, technology, physical education and information/communication technology.

We also teach religious education, and PSHE (personal, social and health education).

We aim to develop skills and qualities (like cooperation, patience and tolerance) in our children through assemblies, PSHE and the pastoral care of the whole community.

How do we teach at Kingsfield?

We use a wide range of teaching methods at Kingsfield depending on how old the children are and how they can learn best. Our staff are fully trained and qualified and they undergo regular training to keep them up to date with the latest ideas on teaching and learning.

There are more details about each subject area in the school prospectus.
