Welcome to Ammanford Community Infant School

About our School

We are a school that specialises in the education of young children. Our aim is to lay a strong foundation in the early years.

The school is situated in Walter Road, a quiet residential area away from the busy town centre of Ammanford. Our grounds are extensive with grassy play areas as well as tarmac and the rural aspect of fields and trees to the rear.

Welsh traditions and culture are important to the life of our school as we wish to create a Welsh ethos. Welsh is the language of instruction and play for children in our Welsh classes, while children in the English classes are encouraged and supported to learn Welsh.

CLUBS

Our Club offers a safe place to play for children between the ages of three to seven years outside school hours, allowing parents to work or study with the peace of mind knowing that their children are safe and having fun. Also allowing the children to socialise and play with their friends outside school hours. Breakfast Club 7.45 am - 8.40 am and After School Club 2.50 pm - 5.30 pm.

At Clwb Mesen children are escorted to the Club by Club staff. After a healthy tea, they are free to choose from a variety of quality play activities until they are collected by their parents or carer.

All the staff at the Club are qualified and are registered with Social Services under the 1989 Children Act. They are inspected annually to ensure the continued highest quality of both staff and premises.

MEALS

Food

The food we offer on a particular night depends on the children we have in Club. Food allergies and dislikes are catered for. We offer a substantial breakfast and tea. We try to encourage the children to enjoy a healthy menu and a variety of different tastes.

Theme nights are held where we have food from different countries such as garlic bread and pizza. We visit local shops to choose our own fruit and on a fine evening we sometimes have our tea in the fish and chip shop as we return from the park.

FACILITIES

The foundations of the new building for Clwb Mesen was started in September 2003. The funding for this new building was sponsored by the WDA, Objective 1 and Kids Club. The building was finished just during the Easter Holidays and was ready for use in the Summer Term.

The Official Opening of the Clwb Mesen Building was held on 14th May 2004.

The entrance is very bright and colourful to welcome the children. The equipment in the children's room has been specially purchased. There is also an adult room and a fully equipped kitchen to prepare food.

Here are some photographs of the building work as it progressed (click on image to enlarge).
