ORGANISATION AND TIMETABLE

School Organisation

Hursthead Infant School is a community school. It has nine classrooms, and a multi-purpose hall.

This year (2006/2007) the school has 9 class groups, each being organised on a mixed ability basis. The children are taught using a variety of teaching methods and organisation including whole class, group, and individual teaching.

            08.55 – 09.00   Welcome and Registration

          09.00 – 10.10     First Teaching Session

          10.10 – 10.30     Assembly/Act of Worship

          10.30 – 10-35    Fruit Time

          10.35 - 10-50    Playtime

          10.50 – 12.00     Second Teaching Session

          12.00 – 1.15        Lunch time and Break

          1.15 – 2.30         Third Teaching Session

          2.30 – 2.45        Playtime

          2.45 – 3.15         Fourth Teaching Session

AFTER_SCHOOL CLUB

The before and after school club is run by the Elm Cottage Group of Nurseries and After School Clubs, who understand the need for Parents and Carers to work and appreciate the difficulties of balancing this with the daily task of caring for a family. To ease this situation the Elm Cottage Group aim to provide a very high standard of quality reliable childcare, that will give all children a safe, secure, stimulating and consistent environment in which they can develop independence and enjoy a varied recreational programme of activities and socialise with confidence.

Opening Hours
   
The After School Club is open from 3-15pm to 5-45pm, Monday to Friday during term time.
    The Breakfast Club is open from 7-45am

Staffing
   
The minimum staff to children ratios are as follows:-
            On sit care                    1 : 8
            Walking from school    1 : 5
            Outings                         1 : 5

    A very comprehensive Parent/Carers Handbook detailing the Management, the Structure and Aims, Health and Safety, Medicines Policy, Behaviour Policy, Records and Snacks etc., is available on request.


The School also holds 'Childminding Network' Information on all childminders for the school.
