Welcome from the Head Teacher
Education in the UK seems constantly in a state of flux. Educators and politicians argue about the appropriateness of testing, and then about the results. Are we really falling behind in standards? What do we mean by education? What do you want for your children? We believe more than ever that Christian schools are needed.
Since 1978 Trinity School has provided unique education for the young people who have attended: challenging academically, but in an atmosphere that recognises that personal and spiritual growth are also important. We aim to prepare our students to be successful in colleges and careers and to prepare them for lives of service and leadership. To achieve this aim, we see the need for a community of parents, teachers and students, working together for the children, creating something unique in Tameside.
When parents begin the search for a school that will match their expectations of what education should offer, atmosphere, opportunities, the quality of the curriculum, the philosophy of the school, the exam results all come into play as important factors. For a family searching for a curriculum which emphasises Christian values along with a serious academic programme we believe Trinity School offers something special. It is a place where students come to feel confident that they are receiving a good preparation for life.
Since it began, Trinity School has faced and overcome many challenges, and today has around 110 students from Nursery class to Y11, and from about 75 families. These come from some thirty different churches or from no church at all.
Should you decide to apply, we would want you to bear in mind that the atmosphere is distinctively and purposefully Christian, and the work is stimulating, challenging and rigorous.
The Aims and Ethos
Trinity School aims to provide a Christian education by approaching the curriculum, teaching discipline and school organisation from a Biblical standpoint. This is because we believe the Bible to be the Word of God to us and thus relevant to every aspect of life. In other words, we seek to subject the whole life of the school to the demands of God's word.
You can therefore expect a high standard of academic progress according to the child's age and ability, achieved in a pleasant atmosphere of care for the pupil. We try to ensure regular contact between home and school because as parents you put your child in our care. We see school then as, fundamentally, an extension of the home.
The liaison between home and school includes regular reports and consultation. We look to you to assist us in our efforts to maintain high standards by sending your child to school punctually, equipped in school dress. We expect you to support any disciplinary procedures in the school.
Positively we should be working together to encourage your child to set academic, social and spiritual goals and to seek to fulfill them.
This working together can best be fulfilled as you visit the school, ask constructive questions about our work, reply promptly to correspondence and support school activities. Teachers are always glad to receive practical offers of help. Whatever you are able to contribute will be valued and appreciated.
Early Years
We believe that the early years of schooling are the most significant in setting the pathways for your child's future education. We hope as parents you will become actively involved in your child's education as a three way process between child, parent and teacher.
It is important that all the basic needs of the child should be met in a caring environment. The most important need is the need for fun - school and learning should be enjoyable. We strive to achieve this goal and find that if children want to come to school, the rest follows through a multitude of settings and experiences.

Secondary
The nature of the syllabus changes as greater emphasis is put on subjects. For all pupils we seek to open up a subject for them, to appreciate its contribution to our understanding of God's world as well as to prepare them for GCSE's.
A core syllabus is offered in English, Maths, French and Science. Other subjects normally available include Geography, RE, History, Art, D&T, Music, Drama, Food Studies and Information Technology.
In Upper School project classes, an integrated approach is used with an emphasis on an understanding of 'world views'. We look at selected parts of the world to see how different is their view of the world from ours, and how their culture has developed. This is particularly seen through their religious base, family life, their attitude to work and their political systems. Examples of these projects include South Africa, West Indies, Japan, the Islamic world and China. We encourage the pupils to try to evaluate their own time and culture in the light of the guiding principles found in the Bible.
In the final two years the syllabus is mainly geared to preparing the pupils for examinations, but still with an emphasis on biblical perspectives. Our aim is wider than success in exams alone. We aim to prepare pupils to think, to consider information and to make judgements based on biblical thought.
PE is included in the Upper School curriculum. Our on-site facilities are very limited and so what is on offer will vary from year to year, depending on what facilities are available to us. However the pupils are introduced to a wide range of activities including indoor and outdoor games and athletics.
