Our School Aims and Values

At St. Mark's Elm Tree Primary School our emphasis is upon high expectations, high standards and quality.
We aim to be a welcoming, open and caring school, valuing each individual pupil, parent, member of staff and anyone associated with the school family.
We aim to provide a learning environment that will :
* celebrate the uniqueness of each child and his/her God given gifts,
* enhance the potential of every child in our care,
* encourage and achieve the highest standards of work and behaviour.
We strive to develop in our children a positive self -image and ability to recognise and appreciate the worth of others irrespective of gender, race , colour or religious persuasion as is implicit in the Christian Gospel.
In partnership with parents, Governors , the Church and the wider community , St. Mark's Elm Tree Primary School will endeavour to encourage enquiring minds and a love of learning.

Friends of St. Mark
School Council

is our belief that all pupils feel valued within a caring school community. We believe that by introducing a School Council, children will have the opportunity to share their opinions and feelings about issues which will effect them within our school.
How was the council selected?

* Nominations.
* Each child votes for one girl and one boy to represent their class.
* The two children with the highest votes are now on the Council.

What does the council do?

* Listen to the ideas of class mates.
* Help to make changes to the school.
* Let others know what is happening in school.

After every school council meeting representatives report back to their class with any developments.

School Clubs

Breakfast Club
We have a breakfast club that runs from 8am to 8.50am every morning. Please contact Miss Wilkinson if you want to know more.
Athletics Club

Every summer Mrs Gray and Mrs Carr run Athletics club. Children in KS2 stay after school and develop skills in running, throwing and jumping. After a few weeks they are awarded a badge, either Gold, Silver or Bronze.
ART CLUB

Art club takes place once each term for Keystage 1 and 2 children. We run on a first come first basis for places each club date. Dates go out in our school bulletin so keep an eye open! The clubs run separately to allow for skill levels. We have an artist who comes into school to work with the children. Club runs fron 3-5pm. The cost is £3.50 which includes adrink and a biscuit. All abilities are welcome!
Nature Club

Nature club has been set up to help children find out more about our environment. We have to developed an old garden area into an active nature garden. We hope to attract lots of wildlife to study.
Choir

We have just started our new choir, it contains a range of children from Y1 to Y4. We are learning with Mrs Dodsworth to sit and breath correctly and learning lots of new songs.
In the summer Y5 and Y6 will be joining us to put on a production of Joseph! So watch this space for further information.
Recorder Club

Recorder club is meeting again during Golden Time, we will be having 2 groups, a beginner and intermediate group. I'm sure we will be looking forward to performing for the school sometime soon!
