Pasted GraphicSt Mary’s College is a Catholic college for the whole community. We strive to keep the Gospel values of freedom, justice and love at the heart of everything we do, and we welcome all students who wish to benefit from our special ethos, whether they are Catholic, of other faiths, or of no faith.

We affirm and value each member of our College community, and we are committed to the pursuit of excellence.

As a college, we are committed to caring for each individual student. Our aim is to provide a full student life, both intellectually and socially, in an atmosphere that is a 'halfway house' between school and higher education or employment.

Since first opening our doors in 1904, we have built up an excellent reputation for our educational standards and examination results. Every year a very high proportion of our students go on to higher education, with many securing places at Russell Group Universities and the top medical schools.

In addition to offering a high quality education, the College provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, in which you will be treated as a young adult with your own views and responsibilities.

But don't just take my word for it - come and see for yourself what the College is like at one of our Open evenings. I wish you every success in your current studies and I look forward to meeting you.

What qualifications do i need?

We have an open access policy at St Mary's. It doesn't matter what your exam results are, or even if you have no qualifications at all, we will work with you to draw up a programme to suit your particular needs. We will also do our best to make appropriate provision for students with learning difficulties or disabilities.

AS and A Level Courses

The traditional A level is now split into two one-year courses: the Advanced Subsidiary, or AS, and the A2. Students have a wider range of options open to them than in the past and the opportunity to obtain a greater number of formal qualifications. Some AS and A2 subjects are available as double awards.

The flexibility of these courses means that students can choose a programme that is appropriate to their needs and interests, eg.
• 3 A levels
• 2 A levels and 2 AS levels
• 3 A levels and 1 AS level
