SCHOOL LIBRARY

The library is an integral part of Dunluce School and is used by all classes for at least one period a week.  With over 5000 books available there is plenty of choice.  We try to encourage pupils to read as much as possible for pleasure, as well as for information; this helps with all aspects of literacy throughout the school.
Each Year Group also has a designated day in the week when they can visit the library at both break and lunchtime to read books or magazines, use one of the 9 Broadband PCs to 'surf the net' or do some word-processing.
Our latest acquisition is the acclaimed Accelerated Reader program, specifically designed to improve pupils' reading.

The NEELB Mobile Library Service comes to school in October when we are allocated a certain amount of money to spend on new books; these we choose ourselves, meaning we are able to pick the type of books our pupils want to read.  Recently, we have provided a section for Senior Fiction, designed for Years 11 and 12

There is also an 'exchange of books' once a year when anything from 100 - 300 books can be returned and the same amount received by the library.  This ensures that we can keep our shelves up-to-date and in excellent condition.
