| About our school
St. Anthony’s is a Catholic Maintained Primary School in Northern Ireland with an enrolment of 563 children, and 27 staff. We have been in existence since the new city of Craigavon was founded in 1970. The present building is comparatively new (7 years old), the previous building having been demolished in the explosion which happened ten years ago on 12th Dec. 1991.
Back in the seventies, the school catered for the families in many neighbouring estates. Many of these estates have since been demolished but our intake has remained consistently high due to parental demand from other areas. There is currently much new residential development within the catchment area of the school. We have two excellent nursery settings and a reception class as well as two Learning Support Units for children with Moderate Learning Difficulty. Of particular importance is the school committment to providing a value-driven education with a Christian ethos, affirmed by strong parish and community links. In other words we believe in self discipline, high standards, being kind towards one another and sharing our friendship.

| Nursery
Our Nursery and Reception department has 3 classes catering for 77 children. Each of the three classes provides a full day session for each child. The children have both indoor and outdoor activities which help them to progress in all areas of the early years curriculum. The nursery is very well resourced and is set in pleasant surroundings. It has established excellent links with parents with the DELTA parenting programme, curriculum palks, progress reports, lending library and open days. We also encourage good links with outside agencieseg. the local Fire Authority and the Ambulance Service.
Curriculum We provide our children with a safe, secure, healthy and stimulating environment where they have the opportunity to explore and investigate their surroundings, develop many vital skills and experience structured activities related to all areas of the pre-school stage. We provide a curriculum which is broad and balanced and which allows the children to make choices, a curriculum which motivates, challenges and develops the child holistically in the following areas.
- Physical development
- Language
- Personal, social and emotional
- Creative and aesthetic
- Early mathematical experiences
- Early science and technology
- Knowledge and appreciation of the environment
General objectives
