 Mission Statement

Our Motto

Teaching, Learning and Growing together in Friendship

Children

Listen to children

And they will feel worthwhile.

Respect children

They will grow up respecting themselves and others.

Play with children

Can they choose and lead the games?

Allow them to make decisions

Then they will grow up confident.

Set children reasonable limits

Remember praise often works where punishment fails.

Allow children to explore

They are naturally curious but have a great deal of common sense.

Expect the best from children

They’ll do everything in their power to prove you right

School History

The school was opened in 1957 so we are now celebrating our 50th Year.

Various celebrations will be taking place throughout the year and children will be brining home details of these.

Pupils who attended the school from 1957 and 1972 may wish to join in a 50th celebrations reunion being organised by Mrs Shaw.  For futher details please contact school.

School Policy

Homework – Children have a home reading book, take spellings and learn tables.  Often they may be asked to do some research as part of a topic or work for a special project.  When the children reach Year 6, homework is more structured. Obviously your support with homework is highly valued.  We endeavour to inform you of any specific topics being covered in order that you can have discussion with your child at home.

Letters home - There is a half termly newsletter, which invariably keeps you up to date.  Additional letters regarding educational visits may require your signature and then we ask you to return them to school.  The contact form is a particularly important document as it contains telephone numbers, which we may use in an emergency.  This is retained in the school office, when completed and returned to school.

Sex Education - This is an integral part of a child’s development and is seen as a joint responsibility of parents and school.  It is not taught as a separate subject – elements of it are part of the National Curriculum and are supported by outside agencies, such as the School Nurse – especially when children are in their final year at school.  Any individual concerns will be dealt with sensitively.

Jewellery – Children should not wear jewellery in school.  Pierced ears require studs only, however these must be removed for any PE activity.  All personal items are the responsibility of the pupil unless they have been given to the teacher for safekeeping.
