We are a small school in the North East of England, in County Durham. We have three classes and a nursery unit. We have just over one hundred children, from ages three to eleven.

Nursery

Our nursery is a 26 place resourced unit. The Nursery teacher is Mrs. J. Lewis, the Nursery Assistant is Miss C. Smith and Mrs. E. Greener is our Special Needs Support Assistant. Children come into Nursery after their third birthday and join the reception class in the September after their fourth birthday.

Here are some of the things we do:

As part of our Nursery topic on holidays and recreation we made a display about kites.

We enjoy making things with pastry and we develop fine motor skills as we do so.

We play with sand everyday. On this day we were finding out that pouring sand can make wheels turn around.

Everyday we tidy up. We make sure we sort everything into the right places.

Our Extra-Curricular Clubs

At Ludworth, we have a variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs for children to attend. These take place at break times or after school usually.

Violin

We go once a week to practice. Mrs Bygates teaches us. We have violin concerts once every term in school and we have some concerts out of school. We have children from years 4, 5 and 6 who take part. Beginners learn how to play with number notes.

Fitness Club

This takes place once a week in a lunchtime break. We do movement to music which helps us to keep fit. It is organised by some of the children and supervised by Mrs Crawford.

Art Club

This takes place once a week and is also organised by some of the children and supervised by our teacher. We do lots of different art things, like making masks, doing straw paintings and painting.

Hockey Club

This takes place once a week after school and is run by two students from Durham University. They teach us hockey skills and we play small-sided hockey games.

Computer Club

This takes place every week during lunchtime. It is organised by some of our Year 6 children. We learn computer skills such as word processing, importing pictures and use different programs. We learn about the Internet and how this can help our work in class.
