Over the years since its foundation, as numbers grew and standards demanded from pupils became higher, the school changed. Buildings were added, providing accommodation for boarders and for specialist subjects. The site, a hillside close to the River Erne and Enniskillen town centre, is now largely covered with buildings, most of which have been converted to provide suitable accommodation for the changing curriculum. In March 2001 work began on a major renovation and extension of the school. This is now almost complete with the last phase to begin shortly.
Girls coming to Mount Lourdes will discover a welcoming environment in which they can develop their abilities to the fullest extent. In this school we endeavour to give students opportunities and experiences that are designed to help them become confident and able to make good decisions about their future.
We place strong emphasis on our pastoral system. The atmosphere in school is relaxed, staff are approachable and girls are treated as individuals.
By working with other students under the guidance of an enthusiastic staff, girls learn to respect themselves and others. The Christian values that underpin the work of the school are fostered through the Religious Education programme and the voluntary activities in which students are encourage to take part.
We aim to develop in our students a sense of the wider world with all its social, economic and technological diversity and equip them with the skills necessary to deal with a rapidly changing adult world of work.
Although the studies undertaken by students today are very different from that of the past, the tradition of the school - seeking high academic standards, demonstrating in a practical manner concern for others, maintaining high standards of behaviour,-has changed little since its foundation. Whatever your special interest or talent, Mount Lourdes will help you to develop it fully. All we ask is that you take advantage of the opportunities we offer. |
