Welcome to families who have had a long association with the school and welcome also to families who have joined us for the first time.  We trust that this will be the beginning of many happy years of working together in the interest of your children.

This booklet is produced to provide parents with information about the school.  Ysgol Bodafon is a Church in Wales Voluntary Aided School.  It is in the diocese of St Asaph and it serves the Parish of Llanrhos (Llandudno).

Ysgol Bodafon is a daily, bilingual, co-educational school.  Full time pupils range from 4-11 years old and Nursery pupils attend on a part-time basis.

Naturally, the school has close links with the Church in Wales.  During the school year some school services are held in the local churches and the local clergy conduct services in school on a regular basis.

There is a strong parental involvement at Ysgol Bodafon.  Parents are encouraged to be involved in the education of their children.  Their involvement in school activities is encouraged and there is a very supportive and active Parent Teacher Association at the school.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

As a Church School we aim to develop in our school a positive Christian environment, to promote a loving, caring faith based community and to help everyone in the school to grow in spirituality.

We aim to develop an understanding and knowledge of the teaching of the  Christian Church and its ministry in today’s society.  There should be a dynamic interaction between the church, community, school and home since it is through this collection of environs that the children will grow into whole persons.

In the face of a rapidly changing world and the increasing demands upon school and staff, it becomes ever more imperative that change and development in the school be a controlled process, to achieve what is best for the school, children and staff.  Therefore, reviews of aims and objectives will be ongoing.

Implementation of policy statements will be constantly appraised.  All involved people (parents, governors, staff and children) will have the opportunity to express opinions about the school.

WHOLE SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY

Learning is a lifelong continuous process and parents of children in this school have a right to expect a high quality provision of positive learning experiences.

Every child’s whole experience of school is integrated with their distinctive family culture and personal life experiences and is displayed in their actions and relationships both with people and their environment.

Our philosophy is demonstrated clearly in the whole school approach to the display of children’s work.  We communicate to children and visitors our respect for children’s endeavours and respond by creating a setting of quality, a focal point for learning and for pride in achievement.

The special quality of being a Church School is an added dimension for all children where spiritual growth is supported and encouraged and where school attitudes include the development of the awareness of the meaning of commitment to a faith and the implications of that belief.
