Welcome to Blackwater CP School

Blackwater School was built in 1877 and serves the village of Blackwater and surrounding countryside hamlets.

The school comprises Infant Classroom and two Junior Classrooms, hall, kitchen, ICT suite, library, SEN room and various offices and resource areas. There is a large sports field, and adventure play area.

Blackwater is a small rural village situated in the Parish of St Agnes between Truro (6 miles) and Redruth (4 miles) and close to the north coast and its sandy beaches (3 miles).

A Foundation Unit is incorporated within the school for children aged 3-5 years. On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon with the option for children to stay for lunch until 1.00 p.m. and Thursday afternoons from 1.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. with the option for children to come to school for lunch at 12.00 noon. The Foundation Unit eases the transition between Early Years and the first year of school. Our children get to know school staff really well and are given excellent educational activities.

Stay and Play Sessions are held at here on Tuesday mornings between 9 and 11 a.m. with Sue Thrower from Truro Nursery for parents and babies up to 3 years.

School Lunches

Hot lunches are available daily at a cost of £1.60 per day (£8 per week).

Dinner money is payable in advance on Monday mornings even if your child is only staying for part of a week. Please send the correct money whenever possible in an envelope or purse with your child’s name on it. If your child is absent the amount will be adjusted the following week.

Any child who arrives without money or a packed lunch can have one emergency meal which must be paid for the next day.

Families on low income may be entitled to free meals. Forms are available from the school office and applications will be treated confidentially.

Gabor

White Cross Mission

Since 1997 Blackwater School has supported the work of the White Cross Mission by sponsoring Gabor Lacatus.

Gabor was born in 1987 in Oradea, Romania, abandoned by his mother and admitted to the care of the White Cross Mission in 1988.

Sponsorship, in the sum of £100 per annum, is raised from the proceeds of the paperbank situated outside the school so please continue to deposit your unwanted newspapers for recyling.

Gabor is now 20 years old and resides at the White Cross Mission's Casa Anoushka. He enjoys helping around the house and in the garden.
