The uniform for the Gryphon School pupils has been chosen to reflect the wishes of parents, pupils and staff. It is intended to be smart and distinctive with the School Emblem always visible. Parents are asked to observe the guidelines laid down and seek advice if in doubt. Sixth Form students may wear their own choice of clothes but are expected to remember that they are part of a community where a uniform is worn until the end of Year 11.
The uniform list has been divided into two sections – “School Wear” and “Sports Wear”. All items have been chosen to keep cost to a minimum and to allow freedom of choice within certain limits. Many items are available in our Our School Uniform/Thrift Shop which is open every Monday lunchtime. Items may also be purchased from Sporting Classics, either at their premises in Cheap Street, Sherborne or via their website:
www.sportingclassics.co.uk
We advise all parents that it is essential for every item of clothing or footwear to be clearly named. Order forms for personalised name-tags are also available from our School Uniform Shop. |
Students are also advised to look after their belongings carefully and hand in large amounts of money to the school office for safe keeping.
Protective clothing will be supplied by the school in specialist areas where required. Please note that, for safety reasons, no jewellery may be worn, with the exception for those with pierced ears of a single sleeper per ear, (this means nose studs are not permitted).
The governors, staff and parents have been encouraged by the widespread support that the new school has received. In coming to their decisions about uniform we have been mindful of the need for a special identity. We will continue to monitor the needs of the school and see that the dress code is of a high standard to reflect the school ethos.
Thank you for your support.
