Lulworth & Winfrith First School is an outstanding Church of England school for 4-9 year olds set in amongst the glorious World Heritage Coastline.
We aim to provide the highest standards of teaching and learning for all of our children to enable them to gain the maximum from their education, within a caring and positive environment.
As the 2005 Ofsted Inspection cites: "This is an outstanding school... Teaching is outstanding... Pupils enjoy school and work hard in lessons. Behaviour is good."
Since 2005 the two village schools of West Lulworth and Winfrith have been federated with one Governing Body and one Headteacher. Following the success of this federation the two schools have now officially amalgamated to become the Lulworth & Winfrith C of E First School with Mrs Sharon Buckland as the Headteacher.
"The headteacher provides inspirational leadership. She has an absolute commitment to ensuring that pupils achieve the best they can. There is a similar expectation of teachers. As a result, pupils make outstanding progress in the school." Ofsted report, 2005
"Teaching and learning are outstanding and are the key factors in pupils reaching high standards by the time they transfer to middle school. At the heart of such effective teaching is high quality planning. Teachers plan exceptionally well to meet the individual learning needs of pupils within mixed-age classes. Teachers make learning exciting and interesting." - Ofsted report, West Lulworth First School, 2005
Class sizes rarely get above 20 and are more likely to be around 12, depending on year and intake. |
