WELCOME TO HECKLEGIRTH PRIMARY SCHOOL
Hecklegirth Primary School was built in 1963 and is situated in the town of Annan adjacent to the secondary school, Annan Academy. Annan is a small border town in Scotland, midway between Carlisle (England) and Dumfries (Scotland).
The school serves the centre of the town and is one of three other primary schools in Annan. The school roll is 250 pupils, accommodating children from 3 - 11years old. The Head Teacher is Mr John Thin, who is the Comenius Project co-ordinator. He has been involved with Comenius since 1997.
Comenius
The Comenius Progamme has developed under the overarching aegis of Socrates. The aim of the project is to develop links with our European schools and both teachers and pupils. It is also used to develop relationships and provide useful European connections for further projects.
Two of the Region's schools have been involved in a Comenius project, which aims to create and maintain links with schools in Europe. In Dumfries and Galloway, Hecklegirth and Johnstonebridge primaries are involved in a link with two European schools, Grundschule im Beerwinkel, Berlin and Casartelli Uno, Cantu, in Italy.
