We would like to welcome all our new pupils and their families to Aston Fields Middle School, and also welcome back the pupils and families in Years 6, 7 and 8. The new school year has got off to a flying start with pupils looking extremely smart and we hope they will quickly settle into the new routines and challenges they will encounter this year.
The school calendar for the Autumn Term will soon be published on the school website for your information. If you would like to request a hard copy please contact the school office.
For the benefit of new families I would like to inform you that all newsletters are published on the school website.
6th July 2007
Dear Parents/Carers
As you are aware, your child is coming to the end of their time at Aston Fields Middle School and will soon be moving on to the High School stage of his/her education. We aim to ensure that these last few weeks are enjoyable for everyone, staff and students alike.
With this in mind, as you know, we have organised a Year 8 visit to the West Midlands Safari Park on Thursday 19th July. This proved to be a very successful trip last year and the behaviour of our students was excellent, as we expected it to be. We feel sure that this will be the case this year. However, we do reserve the right to withdraw this privilege from anyone whose behaviour gives us cause for concern.
In addition, the last day of the term is an opportunity for the celebration of achievements, reminiscences and sadly, goodbyes. We will not, however, tolerate any behaviour that falls short of expectations or shows any disrespect for people or property. Should any such incident occur, and we very much hope it does not, then we shall contact the parents of any students involved immediately and request that their children be removed from the school premises. This action would, of course, have serious consequences for the student/students involved; we would only follow this course of action after very careful consideration.
We have arranged for the Year 8 students to have a picnic lunch on the school field on the final day, weather permitting. This picnic may be purchased from the school cafeteria or you may wish to send your child with his/her own packed lunch.
We have decided that no bags should be brought in to school on July 20th so students' own packed lunches will need to be in a suitable container.
We are sure that we can count on your full support in these matters as we work together to ensure that all students leave with only happy memories of their time at Aston Fields.
