Dear Parent / Guardian,
As it seems that I will be present for some time in Class 3, I think it is helpful to inform you of some organisational matters which may well be relevant for the remainder of the school year.
Homework is generally given out on a Tuesday to be returned on the following Monday. It consists of some spellings and a learning log task. The spellings are on a printed sheet, but can also be accessed on the internet on the link described below, for those families fortunate enough to have Internet access.
These lessons will be starting with effect from Thursday 20th September in school time. Unfortunately we have to charge for these lessons to cover the costs and the price depends on the number of children taking part.
Clubs can only be of benefit to all children concerned if they are all committed to attending. To monitor attendance a register will be taken. Please continue to sign for your child when collecting.
Please sign and return the attached slip to the office by Friday 14th September.
Many thanks.
Yours sincerely
Mrs S A Newbury
I have begun to experiment with a website to help children with their homework and it seems to be working quite well at present. If you wish to use the information on it, please go to www.wilderspin.net and follow the Cleeve Prior link. I trust that it will be helpful in learning what homework has been set and how best to complete it. I will try to ensure that children with no access to the Internet have alternative printed information to assist them with the homework.
I intend to run a homework club ? mainly aimed at children who have no or very limited access to computers and the Internet at home. It will begin this Thursday and will run from 3pm till 4pm until the end of term. If you would like your child to come to this club, please complete and return the slip at the bottom of the letter.
The Learning Logs are proving very successful for most of the class. If there are problems with the tasks set, please feed back to me the precise nature of the problems and I will try to ensure that these are addressed in the future. The Logs are still at an experimental stage and I am working to make them as valuable as possible.
If you have any questions about the matters in this letter, please contact me at school by ?phone or in person, whichever is most convenient. I can also be contacted by email on:
