The Wyche Primary School is set in a semi-rural location on the slopes of the Malvern Hills. The school has a reputation of being welcoming and friendly, yet without compromising the high academic standards its pupils are able to achieve.
The recent OFSTED (May 2006) graded the school as "Outstanding". However the school achieved this grade in every area of the inspection, as far as we are aware The Wyche remains the only school in the country to have achieved such an accolade. The opening sentence reads;
"This is an outstanding school where pupil's personal, social and emotional development goes hand in hand with the pursuit of high standards"
In 2007 the school topped the county league table both in terms of the "Aggregate Points Score" and the "Value Added" measure. It was included in all three of the BBC best school's list including "The Best of the Best" The school has notable strengths in Art (Ofsted 1997) and Music (Ofsted 2000) and ICT (Ofsted 2006) and has been commended by the LEA for its "innovative approach to Teaching and Learning" (July 2002) and for being "at the cutting edge of curriculum development" (July 2007). The school's strength in ICT led to an invitation to become part of the national programme for "Strategic Leadership of ICT" and the international programme entitled Xchange; both are DfES initiatives. The breadth and balance of the curriculum offered provides each child with an opportunity to achieve in areas where they feel they can personally excel. In addition the school offers a wide range of extra curricular activities. These include Football, Rugby, Cricket, Tennis, Gardening, Rounders, Cookery, Recorders, Basketball, Science, Art, Performing Arts, German, French, Choir, Athletics and Dance. |
