The main Prep School is mostly housed in the old, original Bourton House, set in picturesque grounds in the countryside village of Bourton, Oxfordshire. The towns of Swindon, Oxford (city), Marlborough and Cirencester are all within 40 minutes drive. |
The ages of the children range from 7 to 13. The 7 year-olds are based in the recently re-built Junior End which is alive with colour and challenges.
In addition to several general classrooms we have a dedicated science-lab - newly refurbished, an art room, a CDT workshop, a music-school with practice rooms, a gym, a library and a special needs room. |
Pinewood School and some of its magnificent grounds and playing fields.
|
Outside are several pitches for rugby, football, hockey, lacrosse, rounders or cricket (depending on the season, and the weather!). We also have netball and tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool and athletics facilities which include a notorious cross-country course! |
| Academically a wide range of subjects is taught: English, Mathematics, French, Science, Geography, History, Latin, Music, RE, Art/CDT, ICT and PSE. There is scope for those who require it to have extra lessons in English or Maths. All the children have preps and/or study periods during the school day and, for exam candidates who board, in the evenings. In addition children may chose to have a go at Spanish, photography and drama. |
As well as the usual games periods (which give some children the chance to represent the school in fixtures against other schools) there are opportunities for other activities such as fencing, badminton, gymnastics, ballet, drama, photography, model-making, sewing, chess and cards/recreational games. |
