Welcome to John of Gaunt School
"Our aim is to create an irresistible climate for learning" Mr Andy Packer, Headteacher
At The John of Gaunt School we aim:
To provide opportunities for all pupils to learn and to achieve their full potential in all aspects of school life.
To promote pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and prepare all pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.
To create a calm, structured and businesslike learning environment in which we respect others and take responsibility for our learning.
To encourage our young people to enter the adult world as confident, independent, forward-looking individuals who have an interest and knowledge of the wider world.
To involve parents and the wider community in the development of our young people and the life of the school.
The John of Gaunt School offers all its students an exciting and challenging education. It is a popular, 11–18 co-educational, Comprehensive School of 1400 students based in the heart of Trowbridge.
In September 2004, the school gained Specialist College Status in Science, Mathematics and Computing. This will enable the school to enrich the broad and balanced curriculum, motivate the most gifted and talented and support every child regardless of their learning needs.
Up to 16 years of age all students follow a broad and balanced curriculum enabling them to achieve GCSE grades in 9 different subjects
Head Teacher's Welcome
Welcome to the John of Gaunt School website.
I hope that by navigating around the website you'll get something of a feel for our exciting school.
Obviously a website or prospectus can only give a small flavour of what life is like with us on a day to day basis. You are welcome to attend our open evening Thursday 5th October but I am extending an invitation to you personally to visit the school on a normal working day and whenever possible I will give you a tour of the school.
If you are interested then please contact my secretary, Mrs Nichols on 01225 711156. |
