PUPILS
School Council
Each class votes for a representative every term. They meet every week to discuss ways to improve school even further. This is a very effective way to ensure that we hear the voice of every child and that they contribute to important decisions about their school.
Behaviour
Everyone who visits our school praises the excellent behaviour of our children. We have very high expectations of behaviour and have support systems for those who find it harder.
Gifted and Talented
We identify, challenge and extend pupils in every class who are academically able or are talented in areas of the curriculum.
Some of our children have opportunities to work with other gifted and talented pupils from other schools.
Some of our work has appeared on National websites and in an educational newspaper!
Special Educational Needs/Inclusion
We have a wide range of expertise within school to meet the needs of pupils. Very good relationships have been established with a wide range of support agencies. We have a new Care Suite which includes facilities for disabled children and adults.
PARENTS
Parents are part of our partnership and we encourage their support.
P.T.A.
Our Parent Teacher Association is a strength of our school and is well supported by both parents and staff.
They organise special events, for example family ice skating, regular discos, fairs, talent competitions and visits from theatres.
On site out of School Child Care for 3-14 year old children
We have a large separate building in the school grounds, which provides child care before (8.00-8.50 a.m.), after school (3.10-6p.m.) and during the school holidays. Please telephone 2660445 or 2668099 to ask for details or book places.
Homework
We encourage a wide range of exciting tasks. We all have very different learning styles and we encourage children to present information a variety of ways and email it to their teacher.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Because we value the time communicating with parents about their individual child we now hold one meeting a year on a Teacher Training Day 12.30p.m.-8p.m. This enables parents to have a more leisurely chat with the teacher and look at their child’s work.
