The school can accommodate 56 children learning and living together in a happy, caring and stimulating environment.

Size DOES matter!!

Our emphasis is on providing a caring family atmosphere, condusive to teaching, learning and personal growth. We aim to provide a positive, safe environment where children can learn together and develop individually, enabling them to leave school fully equipped to thrive and prosper wherever the future takes them.

Brief school history.

The school was founded in 1878.

Mission Statement.

Oldfield school is a small school with a family atmosphere, staff who work as a team and who encourage involvement from children, their families and the community. The school aims to provide a broad based eduction whilst encouraging caring, respect, confidence and personal growth.

Aims of the School.

To enable each child to achieve their potential academically, spiritually, socially and physically in an atmosphere of high expectations and mutual support.

To provide a positive, safe environment where children can learn together and are allowed to develop individually so that they respect themselves and others, and learn what is right and wrong.

To foster co-operative ways of working and thinking and encourage children to be active in their learning, investigate and ask questions.

To work together with the community and other education providers whilst recognising and valuing our own individuality.

To foster in children a sense of value, respect and care for the environment.

To enable children to leave the school equipped with the necessary means to prosper in their subsequent learning.

We have an experienced and dedicated group of teachers and administrators. Each teacher strives to create a supportive and challenging classroom atmosphere to encourage students to participate.

School Security

Oldfield is a secure school. Door entry systems are now fully operational and control the entry into school from the beginning of the school day.

We have the additional security provided with the use of CCTV camera within school, the school grounds and additional street lighting.

We should like to extend our thanks to all our community key holders, who are in the front line when the school alarms are activated. Their combined efforts have helped to ensure that our school is safe, secure and vandal free throughout the year.

Application Process

We evaluate applications and conduct interviews throughout the year. Contact us to receive an application or schedule an interview. We can also arrange a tour of school and introduce prospective students and their parents to members of our staff and pupils.

School Organisation

Children are taught in classes of mixed ability under the care of one teacher. However, for certain specialist subjects such as music or games, they may be taught by another member of staff. Ancillary help in the classroom is provided for all children on a regular basis.
