Welcome to our school web site
Pathways is a primary community special school. We teach pupils with learning difficulties. We are very successful in teaching profoundly autistic children and are pleased that our work has been accredited by the National Autistic Society. Pathways School was described by Ofsted as being 'outstanding'.
Our Mission
celebrating learning, celebrating success
Admissions
Pupils are admitted to school if they have a ‘Statement of Special Educational Need’. Admissions are co-ordinated by the LA. The statement will suggest that the pupil’s needs are best met through a special school placement at Pathways. We aim to admit pupils at the start of the term, but individual cases can be considered for a place at other times during the year. If a pupil accepts a place at Pathways we implement an induction programme, we like to get to know each pupil prior to starting school, we believe it will help children to come and experience our school before taking up their place. After a child has been in school for about 6 weeks, parents/guardians/carers will be invited to come to school to discuss the learning programme devised to meet their needs. We are happy to accommodate visits, this can be done by contacting school and we will endeavour to arrange a convenient appointment.
Times of the School Day
The morning session begins at 9.10 a.m. and ends at 12.15 p.m.
The afternoon session begins at 1.00 p.m. and ends at 3.27 p.m.
This allows us to teach our pupils for 23.5 hours per week recommended by the DFES.
We expect all our pupils to arrive on time and be punctual to lessons. We rely upon the transport arrangements made by the Authority to ensure that the pupils are in school by 9.10am. If parents/guardians/carers make sure that pupils are at the correct pick up point at the right times this helps enormously |
