At Ashwater School we strive to create a happy, supportive and caring
 atmosphere.

We attempt to do this by encouraging children to develop their individual
strengths and helping them to overcome any personal weaknesses.

By being aware of these strengths and weaknesses we seek to enable
children to thrive, giving them more confidence to tackle difficult, different
 or unusual tasks.

We want our children to be equipped with the skills, knowledge and
understanding to cope with life not only in our school but in their future
 schools.

We are about nurturing enquiring, confident, sympathetic and self
disciplined minds that will be able to empathise with one another's
problems and support each other in all areas of life.

We want our school to be a safe place where the various members can
trust each other to behave in a responsible, tolerant and co-operative
 manner.

 Debbie Tomlinson
 Headteacher.

Curriculum Information

The core curriculum subjects are: English, Maths, Science, Information Communications Technology (ICT), Religious Education (R.E.).

English, Maths and Science are taught mostly in the mornings with the foundation subjects being taught in the afternoons.

Science for KS2 and Music for KS1 & 2 are taught by specialist Teachers.

The foundation subjects are Design and Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music and Physical Education (P.E.). These are planned on
four year rolling programmes for each Key Stage.

At Ashwater we will continue, as we have done in the past, to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum catering for the abilities and
 interests of all pupils.

The curriculum is presented to our children in an integrated manner through cross curricular themes promoting a healthy spiritual, moral,
cultural, cognitive and physical development, regardless of race, religion or gender.

Religious Education is given in accordance with the Local Education Authority Agreed Syllabus. In accordance with Section 24 of the
1944 Education Act, parents have the right to withdraw their child from attendance during religious worship.
