A Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to the Austin Farm Community Primary School website. It has been designed to provide information, help and support for everyone involved in our school and indeed for anyone interested in finding out more about the work we do. You will find that the site has been organised into easy to understand sections which make it possible to find information quickly.

We are a happy school with a particularly hard working team of teaching and non teaching staff. Our website is a reflection of that hard work and is just one example of the excellent work we do to provide a high quality education for all the children in our school “family” and the local community.

I hope you find our website useful. We are always working to make improvements and would welcome any comments or suggestions you may have. Please send them to austin.farm.primary.school@plymouth.gov.uk

Aims

Our aims are to:-

  • provide a broad and balanced curriculum which inspires and motivates individuals to achieve their full potential.
  • provide opportunities for physical, emotional, moral and social development to enhance the health and well being of each individual.
  • foster self esteem and respect the needs and values of self and others.
  • create a caring, welcoming and purposeful environment.
  • nurture a sense of pride and belonging to the school "family" and its community.
  • agree and develop standards of behaviour.
  • recognise and support the needs of those who work with our children.
  • treat all members of the school community with a sense of equality regardless of race, gender, ability or age.

PTA & Community involvement

Parent, Teacher Association & community involvement

The Parent Teacher Association, is thriving within the school. It organises many events which include evenings out, Summer Fairs, Fashion Evenings and sponsored walks etc., as well as taking an interest in educational matters.

The money raised is used in many different ways from buying books to paying for school outings and Christmas parties. The P.T.A. have financed the conversion of an old cloakroom into a first class Library facility and the provision of an adventure trail in the playground. They have recently funded the re-stocking of the library and purchased furniture for this area. The PTA have also funded seating for the playground.

Parents are encouraged to take part in P.T.A activities.

The school is used by the Community for Activities, Yoga and Keep Fit clubs.
